And the winner is …
November’s egret challenge certainly proved popular with a huge number of entries; find out who took the prize.
OUR November photo challenge asked to see your best photos of egrets. All three species recorded in Britain – Little, Great and Western Cattle – were well represented among the submissions, and there was no shortage of terrific shots of these surprisingly difficult photographic subjects.
After a lot of deliberation, the winner is this Western Cattle Egret with unfortunate lizard prey, taken by Lynn Griffiths. Lynn has caught the egret with a determined, fixated look on its face as it tackles the sizeable victim, which has its appendages spread in rather hapless fashion. Congratulations to Lynn, who wins a copy of Vesper Flights by Helen Macdonald. ■
