The reaction to the Self-Isolating Bird Club has been phenomenal, too, with lots of people putting in ponds, helping build the hedgehog highway, planting mini-meadows, and many others saying how the club helped them connect or re-connect with nature and how much this improved their outlook and mental health during lockdown and beyond.

The club continues broadcasting and the emphasis has changed a bit – it’s now also about asking people to find ways of putting something back, how to nurture the nature we love and more widely empower ourselves to protect the planet as a whole.
