Richard Pople commented:
“The quiet picturesque village of Northill, Bedfordshire, was host to a visiting Hoopoe from Monday 9 November 2020. Many birders visited the village to catch a glimpse of it – being careful to social distance.
The bird was still there when I visited on 19 November. I saw it feeding happily on some waste ground. I took many photos, but this is my best one.”
The Birdwatch team replies:
“Nice photo, Richard. This smart Hoopoe was a regular fixture on the BirdGuides news pages for almost a fortnight in mid-November, proving popular with locals and visiting birders alike. There’s a chance a Hoopoe this late in the autumn could end up wintering, but this individual moved on.”
