Where to see European Honey Buzzard
HERE are three well-known, public watchpoints where European Honey Buzzard can be viewed from a safe distance:
• Wykeham Forest, North Yorkshire (pictured): take the minor road at the Downe Arms in Wykeham village, signposted for North Moor. At North Moor, continue north for 1.6 km and turn left at the T-junction. After 500 m, on the right, is the raptor viewpoint car park (SE 935887).
• Welbeck, Nottinghamshire: access from the A614 by turning into Clumber Park and following Lime Tree Avenue south-west heading towards Carburton village. At the B6034 cross-roads, head straight across towards Norton for 2.4 km, passing a monument on the right. Drive to the highest point of the road (SK 583721) and park.
• Acres Down, Hampshire: 1.9 km south-west of Minstead take an unclassified road showing a red ‘no entry’ or ‘dead end’ symbol. Pass through this sign and through a small ford. A small car parking area is situated beside a farmhouse at (SU 267097).
