Little Ringed Plover
ONE of our earliest-arriving spring migrants, Little Ringed Plover will be returning to wetland and brownfield sites near you in force this April. This super wader remains a relatively scarce and localised species in some areas and can be hard to find away from suitable habitat, but it should nonetheless be on most birder’s radars this month. It goes without saying that this is a sensitive species and you should always remain vigilant to territorial birds and avoid causing disturbance – but we look forward to seeing your best photos of ‘LRP’ for this month’s challenge. The winner will receive a copy of The Eternal Season by Stephen Rutt. ■
