Grand Central final lettings announced

-

A FINAL group of new lettings has been announced for the Grand Central shopping centre a month before it opens.

The centre next to New Street station will open its doors to customers on September 24 and contain more than 60 shops and restaurants alongside the 250,000 sq ft John Lewis department store.

The latest retailers to sign up for the complex are scented products firm Jo Malone, Jones Bootmakers, jewellery chain Neoglory and women’s shoe store Jeff Baines.

Cosmetics firm MAC has also confirmed it is taking space following reports earlier this year that it was eyeing a unit in the centre.

The new-look New Street station is also due to open that week following its £600 million renovation with travellers able to see the entire station from September 20.

Grand Central’s communications and engagement manager Ashley Innis said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have these aspirational brands on board.

“They’re a massive boost to Grand Central’s premium retail offering and complement the exciting mix of fashion, accessories, food and beverage brands that have already committed to the shopping centre.”

Richard Brown, development director of Grand Central, added: “With one month to go before opening, we are in a really strong position.

“There is a still a lot to do but as the retailers start to fit-out their shops, we will really start to see everything being brought to life. It’s a very exciting phase of the development.”

Grand Central is being anchored by a £100 million John Lewis store which is expected to employ around 1,000 full and part-time staff.

It replaces the old Pallasades shopping centre which was connected to New Street station.

Among a host of other retailers which have previously announced deals to open in the centre are bookshop chain Foyles, Handmade Burger Company, which was founded in Brindleyplace in 2006, homeware firm Cath Kidston and juice bar Fuel.
