Remainers’ shock simply astonishing
DEAR Editor, I find the aftermath complaints of the outcome of Brexit vote by the Remain campaigners in the Labour, Liberal and Tory parties astonishing, extraordinary and very concerning, when I consider the years of mass immigration and the ever-increasing unease within both the indigenous population and other established ethnic groups, that festered for years, culminating in a referendum.
Even the palpable growth of UKIP forced the government to ask the public to decide. Labour conceded that its mass immigration policy under Blair was a mistake, which the UK has now got to live with but the extraordinary event and the concern must rest with Cameron who ignored public opinion despite giving the public every reason to expect immigration to be curbed.
The years rolled by and we now know that immigration increased during his time in 10 Downing Street.
Just as extraordinary is that Cameron and the Remain campaigners are still shellshocked by the result.
This ignorance and naivety by elected politicians has cost the UK dearly and there is more concern, many of them have been awarded medals and knighthoods for their failure.
It would seem that our democracy is in need of reform as well as the EU. Douglas J Wathen, Salford Priors,
