Quay move for prolific developer

-

THE construction and development company behind several major projects in Birmingham is opening new offices in the city centre.

Bouygues UK has taken 17,271 sq ft on two floors of Albert House, in Quay Place, close to the Barclaycard Arena. It has agreed a tenyear lease with the landlord Threadneedle Pensions.

Bouygues UK, part of Bouygues Construction, operates a number of different arms, including Thomas Vale and Linkcity, previously known as Bouygues Development.

Bouygues UK was responsible for the construction of the iCentrum digital office block at Innovation Birmingham Campus and is currently building the private rented sector scheme for Linkcity, called The Beacon, in the former home of Silver Blades ice rink in Pershore Street.

It is also behind a new complex of student accommodation on the site of 1970s office block ‘Bath Court’ in Islington Row Middle- way. Craig Tatton, Bouygues UK’s managing director for the North and Midlands, said: “Albert House will provide us with state-of-theart office accommodation with great transport links for our staff, clients and partners.”

Theo Holmes, associate director in CBRE’s Birmingham office agency team, advised Threadneedle on the deal.

He said: “Bouygues UK’s decision to move to Quay Place demonstrates that companies are continuing to migrate into the city centre where they can benefit from good transport links and easily accessible local amenities, albeit the availability of new a good quality refurbished stock remains an issue in the shortterm.”
