Adomah: Why joiningVilla was the right move

-

ASTON Villa’s all-smiling Albert Adomah will add a mysterious and unpredictable twist to the promotion-chasing side.

The deadline-day arrival knows the Championship inside out from his time at former club Middlesbrough.

But like fellow Ghanaian Jordan Ayew, the 28-year-old, pictured, is a potential game-changer with a bag of tricks, goals and a rather interesting array of celebration styles.

His infectious smile has already won over those at Bodymoor Heath and Adomah, who had previous spells with Harrow Borough, Barnet, and Bristol City, said: “I have worked hard to get to the top level of football.

“So it wasn’t easy dropping down from the Premier League.

“(After careful consideration) I decided with my family that it would be best for my career to move (to Villa). When I played here in pre-season I knew it was a huge club.

“Now my aim is to train well, get in the team and stay there. Hopefully we can also get back into the Premier League.”

Adomah, who signed for around £6 million, scored six goals for Boro last season and helped the club win promotion.

He replaces Adama Traore, the young winger who moved in the opposite direction, on the right flank and will be a more trusted and reliable option.

His unpredictable style will add another dimension to Villa’s attack and that’s exactly what boss Roberto Di Matteo wanted.

The Italian felt his side needed different options up front to help unlock Championship defences.

And Adomah could end up being the surprise package in a Villa team now brimming with attacking quality.

Meanwhile, free agent Kieran Richardson could be heading to Villa’s Championship rivals Leeds.

The left-back-cum-winger was released in the summer and is still without a club – but he could head to Elland Road.
