Latest Arena Central plans unveiled

-

THE latest plans for the Arena Central office development in Birmingham city centre have now been revealed.

The 3 Arena Central scheme will sit next to the new home of HSBC UK, which is set to relocate thousands of staff to Birmingham next year as part of plans to separate its retail and investment banking operations.

The new building will reach 14 storeys, have more than 233,000 sq ft of offices with a small amount of retail space and also contain parking for cars and bike on three basement levels.

The development, which will be behind the historic former municipal bank building, will open directly on to the site’s main square, Bank Court, and its landscaped public realm The Terrace.

The overall project covers 9.2 acres on land between Broad Street and Holliday Street and will eventually comprise three office and two residential buildings, new public realm and a Holiday Inn Express hotel.

Construction is well under way on both the new hotel and 2 Arena Central and is being delivered by Arena Central Developments, a joint venture led by Miller Developments.

Jonathan Wallis, from Arena Central, said: “Our decision to submit these plans for 3 Arena Central demonstrates the confidence that we feel in the occupier market post-Brexit. By looking to secure planning consent now, we are minimising the lead-in time to the delivery of the building which, with the right occupier interest, could be delivered by the first quarter of 2019.”
