Solicitors from DLA Piper put in a wheely determined charity effort

-

A TEAM of solicitors from DLA Piper completed a gruelling cycle challenge to raise money for terminal illness charity Marie Curie.

The group from the firm’s Birmingham office spent three days cycling 236 miles from London to Paris.

Tim Lake, Gareth Stokes, Laura Cashmore, Partho Chaudhuri and Roseanna Hendon were joined by trainee lawyer Jahedul Hussain on the voyage which set off from Twickenham in south-west London.

The route took them through the North and South Downs before reaching Portsmouth on day one of the challenge where they travelled on an overnight ferry before hitting the French countryside for days two and three.

Mr Lake, a partner in the firm’s corporate team, was inspired to take up the challenge after completing the Solihull to Amsterdam tour for Marie Curie four years ago.

He said: “In 2012, a team from DLA Piper completed a 290-mile cycle challenge from Solihull to Amsterdam in memory of Russell Orme, the late office managing partner of DLA Piper’s Birmingham office. Russell received great care from Marie Curie before he passed away.

“The office has long since been an ardent supporter of Marie Curie and this year we wanted to take part in another cycle challenge to raise money for the charity.”
