Longbridge land sold

-

REGENERATION group St Modwen has sold land in Longbridge for more housing.

The Birmingham-based group has agreed a £7.6 million deal with housebuilder Taylor Wimpey for a seven-acre site at the junction between Groveley Lane and Lowhill Lane, overlooking Cofton Park.

It already has detailed planning consent for 95 homes.

St Modwen is leading the £1 billion regeneration of Longbridge following the collapse of MG Rover in 2005.

Nick Whittingham, land director at St Modwen, said: “Longbridge is changing day by day and is increasingly becoming a destination for people to live, work and enjoy their leisure time.

“The sale to Taylor Wimpey is further confirmation of the fundamental transformation that is taking place.

“The scheme will deliver a range of two to four-bedroom family homes and building works have already started on site.”

Neil Ballett, land and planning Director at Taylor Wimpey, added: “As well as providing much-needed housing, the development will also make a significant financial contribution towards local infrastructure.”

Previous Longbridge phases have delivered a new Sainsbury’s supermarket, Bournville College, Premier Inn hotel and the Midlands’ largest Marks & Spencer store.
