Agency tunes in to radio expert

-

THE former marketing director for Free Radio has joined Birminghambased creative agency Alive!.

Andy Price has been recruited by the Jewellery Quarter agency as client services director, having spent eight years working for the radio station’s parent company Bauer Media.

Mr Price led the marketing strategy for the private equity-backed business, taking responsibility for the development and implementation of a plan to grow audience reach and revenues for both Free Radio and Gem 106.

He played a vital part in leading the business through the sale cess to Bauer Media last year.

Mr Price said: “Once the sale had been completed, I knew I’d be moving on and, having spent most of my career in radio, I wanted a new opportunity to help advance the right business.

“Radio is becoming increasingly similar to agencies, with more clientfacing roles, and I knew that the experience I’d had on the receiving end of agency work would be a useful tool for the right company. We’re always hearing about agency people taking client-side roles but we rarely pro- hear of it happening the other way around. I spent 17 years as a client working with agencies and I know the difference between a great agency, a mediocre one and a bad one.”

Graeme Longstaff, founder of Alive!, added: “This is a massive coup for us. We’re a small team which means it’s crucial to get the right personality fit when we add to our numbers. The experience and insight he is going to bring is invaluable.”
