CONSTRUCTION group Colmore Tang has bought out Black Country outfit Stainless Handrail Systems.

The Aldridge-based company boasts more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing, handrails, balustrades and glass products.

Birmingham-based Colmore Tang said it would look to double turnover for its new acquisition over the next two to three years through a further push into the business-to-business market.

Colmore Tang ’s existing relationship with the manufacturer has seen it install the firm’s products on two of its recently completed residential projects in Birmingham – Fabrick Square in Digbeth and Ridley House next to the Mailbox.

Andy Robinson, group chief executive of Colmore Tang, said: “We recognised this as a superb opportunity to acquire a successful business that easily integrates into our supply chain. Stainless Handrail Systems has grown quickly in a few years under the excellent guidance of its founders and this gives us a strong platform to take the business forward and grow both the product range and customer base significantly.”

Sean Gilbert, who continues as non-executive chairman for Stainless Handrail Systems, added: “We are really excited about the direction in which the business is moving and we’re very much looking forward to seeing it flourish as part of the Colmore Tang Group.”

Meanwhile, Colmore Tang has launched a new fit-out and interiors division.

Tang Interiors will specialise in fit-out and refurbishment for the commercial, retail, restaurant and hospitality sectors.

Headed by operations director Carl Hubbard, the firm will work on projects for landlords, and building consultancy teams spanning £250,000 to £20 million.

The firm will use 3D design technology to allow customers to visualise the end result and step inside a room utilising virtual reality technology.

Mr Hubbard said: “This is another exciting step for Colmore Tang which is a rapidly growing business. Tang Interiors will be yet another trusted company in the Colmore Tang portfolio. It’s a really exciting time to become a part of Colmore Tang Construction’s growth plans and I’m looking forward to driving Tang Interiors forward.”

Mr Robinson, added: “We felt that now was the perfect time to launch this new division as it’s a very natural extension to our main contracting business.”
