Difference in fortunes Toff to explain...

-

ALAN Pardew insists it is difficult to explain why Albion have not experienced the same turnaround under his management as Everton have enjoyed since appointing Sam Allardyce.

The Baggies and Everton went into their Boxing Day draw on the back of contrasting recent fortunes since changing their managers.

Pardew has now been unable to arrest Albion’s slide in his six games since succeeding Tony Pulis, with West Brom now without a win in 18 Premier League outings and second from bottom of the table.

Allardyce, meanwhile, is unbeaten in the same number of matches after replacing Ronald Koeman and three wins have pushed Everton into the top 10.

“It’s difficult to assess because we are talking about two different clubs with different feels and different ways of playing,” said Pardew.

“This team definitely has enough quality in that dressing room, the players have just got to believe in it. A little bit of good fortune and we get a win somewhere down the line then suddenly some of these players will blossom. Unfortunately, one or two are playing hampered by the fact it’s now so many games without a win.”

Meanwhile, Grzegorz Krychowiak could see his loan spell cut short by Pardew in order to free-up wages in the January transfer window, it is understood.

Krychowiak hasn’t lived up to the standards expected of him when he arrived in the summer.

On loan from Paris SaintGermain, it remains to be seen whether the French side would even entertain the idea of reducing the loan as they are saving more than £100,000 a week in wages.

Pardew has discussed the January window and potential targets with sporting director Nicky Hammond, but Albion will need to box clever with Financial Fair Play restrictions in place.
