My future’s at St Andrew’s says Adams

-

CHE Adams insists he is “really happy” at St Andrew’s amid continuing speculation over his future.

The 21-year-old striker has starred for Blues since his move from Sheffield United 18 months ago and is a firm favourite with supporters.

He collected the club’s young player of the year award at the end of his debut season and attracted interest over the summer.

Fulham arrived with a £10million bid but Adams penned a new five-year contract last August and intends to honour it.

“I am really happy at Birmingham and I want to keep playing for Birmingham,” he said. “That’s it. I just want to get out there and do what I can to help the team move up the league.”

Adams enjoys working under Steve Cotterill, and said: “The manager, his attention to detail, is very good. In training we are working on all aspects of the game. Shape, set-pieces, crosses, everything. We all know what we are doing and what is expected of us.

“That’s a real positive. We are organised and he’s giving us what we need to give us the best chance to go out there to get results.

“He has been excellent with me. He’s been great throughout this injury period. He’s been speaking with me every day to check my progress. The manager has been very good with me.”

Adams hasn’t played in almost a month due to his latest muscular problem, but reckons he is close to a return, saying: “It’s been a long four weeks. I’ve been getting stronger, fitter. Hopefully I will be on the pitch soon.

“It’s just one of those things. The whole of my career I’ve not been injured like this before. But I’m near and all I am looking at now is playing and scoring goals for Blues.”
