Schoolgirl has lip torn off by dog

Birmingham Post - - NEWS -

WEST Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses after a young schoolgirl suffered ‘horrific injuries’ in a brutal dog attack in Wolverhampton.

The 12-year-old was walking home through an alleyway just off Ellerton Walk, Park Village, on Friday, October 19 when she was attacked by a black and white dog.

The animal, described as a Husky or German Shepherd-type dog, was unattended with no owner in sight.

It bit her on her mouth, ripping off her bottom lip. She will need extensive plastic surgery to repair her injuries.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “This appeal is to help identify the dog responsible for the attack, and leaving the young girl with life-changing injuries.

“Detectives are also keen to hear from anyone who has information on who the dog belongs to and those who witnessed what happened.”

It is believed the incident took place at 3.35pm. Police urge anyone with any details on the attack to get in touch on 101.
