HS2 line will never make up for losses

Birmingham Post - - NEWS -

DEAR Editor, Sir Trevor Morgan’s article on the imagined and very unlikely benefits of HS2, smacked of desperation for a project that is rapidly been seen as a financial and ecological disaster in the making.

All the hype that has been showered on us, cannot counter the cold facts ie. that it is an EU-imposed project that will be the world’s most expensive per mile, it will never repay its capital cost and will never operate profitably.

In addition, it will ecologically destroy a wide south-north corridor, through an England that can ill afford the loss of green space or damage to communities.

Peter McHugh, Alvechurch, Worcestershire
