Nurse named as new mental health trust chief

A NURSE has been appointed the new chief executive of the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, following the retirement of John Short.

Roisin Fallon-Williams, a registered learning disability nurse, will join the trust on March 1 next year.

Mrs Fallon-Williams, who was previously chief executive at Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust, began her NHS career in 1982.

She stepped down Norfolk post in May career break after a stint in the role.

Following a “rigorous interview process”, Birmingham and from her to take a four-year Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust announced her appointmen­t on Tuesday.

“I am excited that my career in the NHS is going to continue at Birmingham and Solihull,” she said. “There are great things going on in the Trust and I look forward to joining and supporting everyone in the team that is BSMHFT, to take the Trust services forward and reach new heights.

“The health and care organisati­ons in Birmingham and Solihull have forged good relationsh­ips and have a well-establishe­d vision for working together to do their best for local people.

“I am very pleased to be join- ing other local partnershi­p.”

Mr Short announced his retirement in August, after six years at the Trust. He will stay on until the end of March to hand over to Rosin.

Sue Davis, chairwoman of BSMHFT, added: “I am delighted that we will be welcoming Roisin to the team. In her last role, and in interview, Roisin demonstrat­ed an absolute focus on the link between staff engagement and quality services.
