Lamplugh garden search finds nothing

-

OFFICERS searching a garden in Sutton Coldfield in connection with the disappearance of missing Suzy Lamplugh have found nothing.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police and West Midlands Police have wound up their search after they starting digging up the garden on October 29.

No evidence was recovered at the address on Shipton Road, which was once owned by the mother of convicted killer and suspect John Cannan.

Suzy’s family have been informed of this outcome and the search team is preparing to leave the property.

The 25-year-old estate agent vanished in 1986 after arranging a house viewing in London. She was declared dead in 1994 but her body has never been found.

A warrant was sought to search the house after new information was received earlier this year about her disappearance.

The painstaking search of the grounds of the property has involved the excavation of parts of the garden and the rear of the property, and the use of groundpenetrating radar.

Detective Chief Superintendent Richard Wood, who leads the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “Suzy was a young woman when she was reported missing on 28 July 1986.

“She is presumed dead, and is believed to have been murdered. Her body has never been found, and no-one has ever been charged as part of the investigation. “The case remains open, and the Met remains committed to bringing Suzy’s killer to justice. We will continue to assess any new information that comes in.”
