Midland contractor wins contract to work on Villa training ground
CONSTRUCTION contractor O’Brien has been appointed to work on the latest phase of Aston Villa’s new training ground.
The Leamington Spa-based firm, which specialises in civil engineering and ground works, has already completed two phases of work at Bodymoor Heath near Tamworth.
This latest works includes a new academy building, further upgrades to the existing access roads, a new car and coach parking facilities, service roads and footpaths within the site.
The new facility will include a sewage treatment plant and substantial utility upgrades, which will also be provided by O’Brien, along with a substantial landscaping to ensure the new facilities fit in with their surroundings.
O’Brien recently carried work to create a car park access road.
Aston Villa revamp the out and is being forced to Bodymoor Heath complex because part of needed for the new HS2 line.
The high-speed line will pass directly through the south-east corner of Bodymoor Heath, now known as The Recon Training Complex, and involves the relocation of all the academy pitches and two first team pitches which it is will be lost once construction the rail line begins.
