Engineering group moves out of city

-

A HISTORIC manufacturing and engineering group is relocating its operations out of Birmingham after more than a century at the base.

Sulzer, which specialises in coil manufacturing and electrical repair, is moving its repair facilities from Camp Hill, in Bordesley, to a purpose-built site on Birmingham Business Park near the NEC.

The new service centre will encompass all the existing departments as well as the Swiss group’s UK head office.

The move will be carried out in a phased process over the next two years.

Chris Powles, head of electro mechanical services for Europe, said: “This is an important move for us because Camp Hill has been synonymous within the UK electrical repair industry over many decades.

“Many of our industry peers have respected the Birmingham site and it has always been known as a centre of excellence for engineering competence and we want to ensure that all the expertise, capability and knowledge moves with us.”
