Key Land Capital makes move to city centre HQ

- Tamlyn Jones Business Correspondent

AN investment and development firm currently delivering more than £40 million of residential projects in the West Midlands has relocated its headquarters to the city centre.

Key Land Capital has marked its first anniversary by launching a new HQ at Cornerblock, in Cornwall Street, where it has taken 1,500 sq ft of office space, relocating from the north of the city.

The firm, which was founded by Kevin Patrick Sharkey and Alex Sutherland, acquires investment from private investors to develop sites throughout the Midlands, a mixture of residential new build and office to residential conversions.

Its current roster of projects includes a £15 million student accommodation development in Coventry and an office-to-residential conversion to create 63 luxury apartments in Sutton Coldfield.

Mr Sharkey said: “It’s been an amazing year at Key Land Capital. From a small start-up in Aston, we’ve progressed rapidly to the point where we are now delivering five exciting residential developments with a total value of more than £40 million. Moving into the heart of the business community here in Birmingham was the logical next step as Key Land Capital continues to grow. The city is undergoing a remarkable renaissance and the eyes of the property investment world are watching its transformation with interest.

“Investors across the UK and overseas now recognise that Birmingham, with developments such as HS2 and Paradise, and the arrival of major firms such as HSBC, is great place to invest their money.

Mr Sutherland added: “For us, this is the place to be as we continue to build on the successes of our first year in which we’ve established ourselves as a rapidly growing player in residential and commercial property development across the Midlands.”

Rob Valentine, a director with Bruntwood which owns and manages Cornerblock, said: “I have worked in Birmingham for a long time and there is so much positivity here at the moment.

“It comes as no surprise to me that increasing numbers of companies are looking to move into the city centre and we are pleased that Key Land Capital chose Cornerblock. I am excited to welcome them to this vibrant community and district.”
