Winger Marshall on Blues boss’ wanted list

-

BLUES are believed to be interested in signing winger Ben Marshall from Norwich.

After posting losses of £37.5 million for the 2017/18 season, Blues are operating under EFL-imposed transfer restrictions and are allowed to make one more low-cost signing.

Lee Camp, Connor Mahoney, Gary Gardner and Omar Bogle all joined last summer leaving manager Garry Monk with just one card to play in the January transfer window. Marshall has extensive Championship experience and could become Monk’s final signing of the season.

After starting Norwich’s first four games of the season he has fallen out of favour. Manager Daniel Farke has switched things around at Carrow Road to mount a promotion challenge and Marshall appears to have become the latest victim.

He started the FA Cup tie against Portsmouth on Saturday but was hooked after 78 minutes as the Canaries crashed out.

Marshall enjoyed a successful loan spell at Millwall during the second half of last season.

Meanwhile, Burton Albion have been linked with a loan move for Blues’ defender Josh Dacres-Cogley.

The League One outfit want the 22-year-old but only on a short-term deal rather than permanently.

Dacres-Cogley has recently been a regular in Monk’s match-day squads, although he has made only two appearances this term.

So far he has made 24 career appearances in a variety of positions, rightback, right-sided centreback and even at left full-back.

He is under contract at Blues until 2020 but is down the pecking order with Wes Harding, Maxime Colin and Kristian Pedersen dominating the full-back berths.
