Nothing ‘Dubious’ about Morrison’s goal
MICHAEL Morrison has been ‘awarded’ his fourth goal of the season by a special committee.
There had been some doubt surrounding the scorer of Blues’ second in the 3-3 draw against Swansea City last week.
Blues were trailing 2-1 when Jota’s cross was met at the back post by the captain, who headed down.
The ball ballooned up and Swans goalkeeper Erwin Mulder got a hand to it before it bounced into the net via a deflection off Swans midfielder Matt Grimes. Even Harlee Dean thought he might have got a touch.
However, it initially went down as an own goal until the Dubious Goals Committee ruled in Morrison’s favour.
That means the 30-year- old now has his best-ever goal return for Blues – having hit three in a season on two occasions. He is now equal with the time when he bagged four in a League One campaign with Charlton.
Meanwhile, young midfielder Cameron McGilp is hoping his chances of first-team football have improved after leaving Blues for Swindon.
The Australian only arrived at St Andrew’s last summer but completed a move to the League Two Robins on transfer deadline day.
The 20-year-old said: “I was looking to get into a first-team environment where there would be a chance to play games and make an impact.
“Once the opportunity came up, I had no hesitation at all to sign on.”
