Only three options in the Brexit riddle
DEAR Editor, The highly divisive Brexit problem still shows no real signs of getting resolved any time soon.
The European Union negotiators in Brussels have repeatedly made it clear to the UK the European Union will not ever renegotiate the unpopular Brexit deal, so this leaves us with three rather limited choices to choose from.
There is, and always was, only three options available to us so far, there are no alternatives available now. These three options are: 1) Accept the only EU offered deal, flawed and unpopular as it is, that is already on the table, which has since been rejected three times by the British Parliament.
2) Go for a no deal Brexit, which is just as controversial, unpalatable and scary, and few people want to choose this option either. 3) Cancel Brexit entirely, which would go against the EU referendum results, and those who voted to leave the European Union in the first place, and annoy just as many people.
This is a seemingly impossible situation. None of these unpopular options are ideal, which is what is causing this logjam so far, and it’s unclear how this country can resolve this seemingly impossible Brexit impasse.
Unless the EU negotiators have a sudden unexpected change of mind about not renegotiating the Brexit deal, things are not going to improve. By looking for any other possible answer, we are just prolonging the existing problem. We simply have to choose an option now.
