The boy’s Don Good, says ex-pro

DON Goodman has heaped praise on the ‘remarkable’ attitude of Jude Bellingham after his first Birmingham City goal.

After the 16-year-old made his league debut during the 3-0 defeat to Swansea, he then replaced Jefferson Montero at home to Stoke City last weekend.

And it was a dream ending to his first league appearance at St Andrew’s when Bellingham scored a deflected winner in Saturday’s 2-1 victory.

His perfect week was topped off when he was named in the EFL Team of the Week. And Goodman, who works as a pundit covering the Football League, believes the Blues Academy graduate has all the qualities fans should be looking for.

“It’s remarkable, I believe he’s been there from a very, very young age, stood on the terraces as a fan, supporting them, so it literally was a dream come true for him,” said the former Albion and Wolves striker.

“I listened to his interviews after the game at the weekend and you know what? It sounds like he’s got his head screwed on and I really like that.

“I also covered Birmingham away at Swansea the week before and he came on and made a tackle that just had a little bit of devilment in it. We want to see that from youngsters because they were hurting.

“He was hurting about the fact his side were getting beaten comprehensively by Swansea City, so I like that about him. There is a lot to like about him.

“It’s very early days in his career but he has bags of potential, it is about keeping his feet on the ground. It’s about him working very hard.

“I heard him speak about the influence of some of the senior players around him, like your David Davis’ and your Jutkiewicz’s and so on and so forth, so he is listening to these senior players.

“It does seem like he has his head screwed on and that can only be a really good thing for Birmingham.”
