FEATURING demonstrations by

Glynn Purnell, Great British Bake Off’s Val Stones and CBeebies’ Katy Ashworth, the annual Solihull Food & Drink Festival takes place this weekend.

Starting Friday, the three-day family festival will feature 100 food and drink traders in Mell Square, Mill Lane, High Street and Touchwood Shopping Centre. Arranged by Solihull BID, there’ll also be a new rum and reggae zone and a free outdoor cinema.

Plus there’s the much-loved demo kitchen, a taster tent, family entertainment and the live music stage.

On Saturday, Birmingham Michelin starred chef Glynn Purnell takes the reins, divulging his finest tips. He will also be joined by a great line-up including fellow Michelin chef Rob Palmer of Peel’s Restaurant at Hampton Manor Hotel.

On Sunday, the festival will focus on baking skills for children, with demonstrations from Great British Bake Off’s Jon Jenkins, remembered for his Hawaiian shirts and unique baking creations.

Jon will be joined by the cake whisperer herself, Great British Bake Off’s Val Stones, who will be demonstrating how to make family baking so much fun. CBeebies’ Katy Ashworth will also be getting all the youngsters on their feet for a dance and sing-along.

There’s further family entertainment from Mr Bubble, Juggling Jim and Froojamaflip – an amazing animated fruit and vegetable patch.

The live music lounge will be returning to the High Street, near the Masons Arms, which will also house the rum and reggae zone. Much loved UB40 tribute band Rats in the Kitchen will take to the stage on Sunday.

Look out also for free tasters from Solihull restaurants in the taster tent at the top of the High street, where you can grab a voucher booklet providing mouth-watering offers.
