Old Cadbury office is home sweet home...

-

HERE’S a home to sink your teeth into: an apartment at Cadbury’s old headquarters in Bournville... where the Curly Wurly was reputedly invented. The one-bedroom property is on the market for £145,000 at the lavishly-revamped Franklin building in Bournville Lane.

The complex was turned into flats when the chocolate maker moved out of what was then Franklin House, leaving behind a host of milk chocolate memories.

It was there that Cadbury creative David Parfitt reportedly came up with the idea for the lattice of chocolatecovered chewy caramel while experimenting with surplus toffee. The building’s original features have been incorporated and include rooflights which have been used to create internal courtyards in the four penthouses. And the new owner will have access to a residents’ gym – a good move if the temptation of living close to Cadbury World is too much. There’s also a luxury lobby and covered parking.

Estate agents say: “The Franklin is an iconic refurbished development in the heart of Cadbury’s Bournville. The apartment benefits from an openplan lounge and kitchen area, modern shower room and residents’ gymnasium.”
