Hogan may be up for aWilson swap

-

VILLA have been linked with a swap deal that would involve Callum Wilson pitching up at Villa Park and Scott Hogan heading to Bournemouth in the opposite direction – and fans have been having their say on the latest link.

Striker Wilson, who has played for England, could leave the Cherries this summer after their relegation to the Championship, and new boss Jason Tindall is on the look-out for a forward who knows the second tier and can provide goals – that brings Hogan into the equation.

Having spent the second half of the campaign at Blues, the striker netted seven goals between his arrival and lockdown, but didn’t find the net again after the restart.

Villa fans have been largely torn on the swap speculation. Here is some of their reaction:

Frank Malaga Lions: Needs to be right players in, not a deal sweetened by a player we’d like to shift. Can Wilson play lone striker role? Has he ever?

Matt Quinn: Obviously it’s a huge upgrade but presume we’d be adding a fair amount of cash to the deal. And not sure Watkins, Wilson and Wesley as potential striking options will take us to where we/ the owners want.

James: He’s hit double figures once in the last five seasons in the PL, he’s 28 and on £60k a week, does have injury issues too.

Scott: If we offload Hogan and sign Wilson then that eclipses the Jota/Gardner swap easily and gets somewhere close to when we sent Lyon a faulty Milan Baros and got back a fully functioning John Carew.
