-

A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a two-week-old baby died in a crash.

Ciaran Leigh Morris died in hospital shortly after a collision between two cars resulted in a BMW hitting his pram in Brownhills High Street on Easter Sunday.

James Paul Davis, 34, from Walsall, was charged on Monday with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failure to report a collision.

He appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on

Tuesday and has been remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on May 4.

In a tribute released on Monday, Ciaran’s parents said: “Mommy’s and Daddy’s hearts will always ache, we love you more than anything.

“We didn’t get to keep you for long but we are happy we had the chance to meet you, look after you and call you our son.

“Fly high angel.”

Dozens of flowers have been left at the scene of the incident. Meanwhile, hundreds of people have donated more than £13,000 to support the family.

The online JustGiving page surpassed its original £2,000 target in less than 24 hours.

The page, which was set up by Karl Roberts, has been inundated with messages of condolence. An anonymous donor said: “As a mother this has made me feel sick. What those poor, poor parents must be feeling is just indescribable.”

Ciaran’s parents visited the scene on Monday to see the mass of tributes that had been placed there throughout the day.

The couple were supported by family and friends as they crouched down to look at the messages and tributes left by family members, friends and strangers alike.
