Gas network strikes a deal for new hub

-

GAS network Cadent has agreed a deal to move into a new office and warehouse space. The firm has agreed a 20-year lease deal with Fiera Real Estate for a 25,000 sq ft unit in Planetary Road, Wolverhampton, which will become its new hub for its operations in the West Midlands.

There will be 150 desk spaces, meeting rooms and storage facility, with building work set to commence shortly and be completed by spring 2022, having recently secured planning permission.

Henley-in-Arden developer Opus Land is leading the construction work on the building which will also have multi-faith facilities and contemplation rooms, a canteen and kitchen, showers and a restroom.

Solar panels on the roof will supplement power supply, rainwater will be harvested for toilet flushing and ten per cent of car parking spaces will have charging points. As well as the office space, there will be 5,400 sq ft of warehouse space for the storage of machinery and other equipment.

Cadent manages 15,000 miles of underground distribution pipes in its West Midlands network which covers the area from north Staffordshire to Hereford and the M1 to the Welsh borders. It currently has two bases in Wolverhampton and these operations, including all employees, will move to the new building.

Kate Grant, director of its West Midlands network, said: “This new facility in Wolverhampton is exciting for us in many ways, not least in making sure we have the right work space for our team to thrive.

“We can’t really get much more central to the network than Wolverhampton and we aim to continue being a key part of this community for many years to come.”
