LOWDOWN ON BEACH THAT’S NEAR T0 HOME

- CHRISTINA SAVVAS

WE’VE been blessed with some perfect beach weather recently.

And being pretty much in the middle of England, there are plenty of seaside resorts to choose from – Weston-superMare being one of the closest.

But of course you may not want to travel in a hot car for hours with your family to paddle in the sea.

So perhaps the nearby ‘secret’ beach at Bosworth Water Park, near Nuneaton, is worth checking out.

Here’s everything you need to know if you’re thinking of hitting the landlocked beach.

1. Get there early. There are plenty of parking spots but they fill up quickly and staff will lower the barriers when it’s full. It is worth checking the Bosworth Water Park Facebook page for updates.

2. The car park isn’t cheap – we stayed for four hours and paid £10. You can pay with cash or card.

3. You can take your own food and drinks and even have your own BBQ but if you are not that prepared, there is a cafe. Don’t forget masks for the cafe, shop and the toilets. Bottles of water are £1.50

4. The water is a little muddy so you won’t really be able to stick PJs on the kids and get them them straight to bed. They will need a shower!

5. There is an ice cream van but be prepared for a huge queue on a hot summer day.

6. As well as a free adventure playground with a big ship, there is a funfair and the kids will pester you to go on the rides. Be strong-willed or prepare to spend money!

7. There are plenty of other things to keep the whole family entertained. As well as the beach, where kids can play on the sand, and the playground there is crazy golf and you can hire a pedalo, rowing boats or canoes so you can take the family out on the lagoon!
