-

A MANUFACTURER has expanded its presence in Birmingham and launched a recruitment drive.

Strip Tinning Automotive, which makes automotive connectors, has launched a new 7,690 sq ft facility at its base on Arden Business Park, Rubery.

The company, which was founded in 1957, has been headquartered on the site since 2006 and currently employs 130 staff but is now on the hunt for further employees in fields such as engineering and logistics.

In 2019, it expanded its range to create products for use by the electric vehicle market and these will be manufactured in its new expanded facility.

Chief executive Matthew Webb said: “The business continues to go from strength to strength and has come a long way since those early days.

“We are exposed to some of the strongest growth areas within the automotive industry and will continue to focus heavily on the engineering expertise that has helped us reach this point.”

Chairman Richard Barton added: “We first headquartered our family business in Birmingham in 1997 and this marks a very special day in the company’s evolution.

“We have always been very proud employers in the local area which draws in the most talented individuals in our industry and we were thrilled to be able to keep all staff fully working through the covid-19 environment.”
