Scooter death will not be the last

-

DEAR Editor, It is a tragedy that Shakur Pinnock should lose his life at such a young age on an electric scooter.

Unfortunately, there will be others and, I am sorry to say, that it is inevitable.

Riders and youngsters must be made more road aware.

These scooters seem to easy to get hold of. You see them all over the streets, pavements, weaving on and out of traffic, some of the riders pay no heed to road rules.

Neither do some bike riders for that matter. Riders pulling wheelies, riding the wrong way on roads, going through red lights, riding no handed, jumping off the pavements and into the road traffic without so much as looking, ignoring pedestrians there are many dangerous actions which are then copied and seen as acceptable behaviour.

I would implore all cyclists and e-scooters to act more responsibly.
