Company boss raped teenager at job interview

Jail for monster after victim’s horrific ordeal

- Ross McCarthy Court Correspondent

ATWISTED company boss raped a teenager who had attended his office for a job interview.

Mohamed Mohamed had turned up music to drown out the woman’s cries while subjecting her to a “sustained” and “horrific” ordeal.

The victim had answered an ad for health care assistants at care homes, although that advertised role later changed to cleaning staff.

Mohamed, of Kentish Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, had previously been found guilty of rape and false imprisonment following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

He was jailed for nine years and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

The 43-year-old had rented offices in Coventry Road, Small Heath, under the registered company name of Gulf Care Ltd.

In passing sentence Judge Sarah Buckingham said the company had been in its infancy and Mohamed appeared to have little idea what to do, although she accepted that it was not a fake business.

“In an effort to establish this business you placed an advert for staff,” she said. “Unsurprisingly, young women responded to your advert, including the victim and her friends, although she was the only one you interviewed.”

The judge said the 18-year-old woman had applied by text and that Mohamed had responded by WhatsApp, attaching a response next to a photo of the victim dressed in a bikini.

He later accessed her WhatsApp story board on a number of occasions. The judge said: “I have no doubt that you found her attractive from viewing that.”

When the teenager came to the defendant’s offices on October 14 he offered her some free training for a secretarial role.

“By this point she had some misgivings but plainly viewed you as a potential employer. She wanted to work and prove herself to you, this was a clear breach of trust” said the judge.

Mohamed had initially given the victim some training before leaving the office for a short period.

Th judge said: “On your return the situation changed quite significantly. You decided to see whether she would respond to your sexual advances. You simply could not control yourself and you gave in to your lust and desire and set about having sex with this young girl whether she consented or not. She had obviously no idea that she had walked into a sexual predator’s lair. She repeatedly told you to stop, was crying and tried to push you away but you manhandled her to the floor, removed her trousers and raped her.”

“You turned up music to drown out her noise.”

When the woman tried to leave, Mohamed had stopped her by pulling her back and taking hold of the door handle, telling her she had to be paid first.

The defendant later went with the teenager to a cash point and gave her £20.

Judge Buckingham said: “She was your quasi employee and was trapped with you and you tried to persuade her not to tell anyone.

“Your attack on her was horrific. She had placed her trust in you.”

In a statement the victim said what had happened had destroyed her trust in men and she could not forget what happened.

Elizabeth Power, defending, said Mohamed had been married for 15 years and he cared for his wife, who was disabled.

She said although the defendant and the victim had been in his office for several hours, the actual offence only took place over a short period of time.
