-

PROPERTY consultancy Savills has been appointed to work on a major regeneration and business scheme in Solihull.

The agency will advise stakeholders of The Hub which comprises key regional employers Birmingham Airport, Jaguar Land Rover, NEC and Birmingham Business Park alongside the planned HS2 Interchange station.

Savills will provide continuing support to Urban Growth Company, the body leading The Hub, in advancing the commercial development opportunities in an area spanning 3,210 acres.

A key element is the planned Arden Cross scheme on 346 acres of land surrounding the new HS2 station which could eventually comprise thousands of new homes and commercial space.

Nigel Hudson, strategy and planning director of Urban Growth Company, said: “As well as setting the strategic direction on how we will make The Hub a world-renowned destination, we are also now starting to deliver the projects that will make this a reality. The Hub is an opportunity unlike any other in the UK, and possibly Europe, in terms of the connectivity, scale and possibilities brought about by the partners we already have here.

“The appointment of Savills will help enable us to deliver the transformational growth we envisage at The Hub.”

Andrew Galloway, director and joint head of the development team at Savills in Birmingham, added: “We are incredibly proud to be working on such an exciting project.

“Over the past five years, the region’s £100 billion economy has grown by over 20 per cent.

“HS2 presents an unprecedented opportunity to establish the West Midlands as a world-class business location and, in order to create this destination, there is a need to provide considerable new commercial, industrial and residential space to meet its ambitions.”
