Footy club wins licence despite fears

-

A FOOTBALL club has been granted a new licence despite fears it will lead to bottles being thrown into a neighbour’s garden. Sutton United Football Club has been successful in its application for a licence at Coleshill Nurseries, Coleshill Road, Sutton Coldfield – one of two locations for the club.

It had been opposed in two letters of objection from neighbours, including one who claimed they have “had to clean up glass and beer bottles that have been thrown into our garden” and feared this would happen again.

Birmingham City Council licensing sub-committee granted a premises licence subject to conditions agreed with the city council’s environmental health and licensing enforcement teams. These include arrangements for the outside smoking area, a requirement for a noise management plan and that the outside seating area cannot be used past 11pm. Live music can only be played up to 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday.

The sub-committee said: “Members were not convinced that there was an evidential and causal link between the issues raised and the effect on the licensing objectives.”
