HALFPENNY’S AMERICAN PIE

EMMERDALE actress Chelsea Halfpenny will star in the lead role of Jenna in Waitress when it comes to Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre later this year. Chelsea played Amy Wyatt in the ITV soap for three years, as well as Alice Munroe in Casualty for four years. She recently made her West End debut as Judy Bernly in 9 to 5 The Musical.

Last month, her grandad was left fighting for his life after a hit-and-run and the actress issued a plea for those involved to “do the right thing”.

Waitress is a popular romantic musical based on the 2007 movie and tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest and the town’s new doctor offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness.

Waitress is at the Grand from June 28 to July 2.
