Boutique hotel goes on market just months after closure

-

A HIGH end hotel and cocktail bar is up for sale less than six months after it closed for good.

The Edgbaston Boutique Bar and Hotel, in Highfield Road, closed in February and has now been listed for sale on Rightmove, with the price available upon application.

Brothers Stuart and Darren Insall opened The Edgbaston with a glittering launch party in September 2014.

The pair were fresh from the success of running award-winning Warwickshire boutique hotel The Kenilworth and the bar’s dramatic luxury 1920s-style interior was unlike anything in the city at the time.

The hotel has 20 en suite bedrooms, as well as a bar, restaurant, cocktail bar and function room. It also boasts an enclosed garden terrace and parking for up to 30 cars.

The listing on Rightmove says: “The property is typical of the Georgian era and very similar in character to most of the other properties within Highfield Road. No. 18 was converted into a hotel, bar and restaurant and commenced trading in May 2014 with No. 16 completed in 2019. Approximately £1 million was spent upon the conversion of the property to create the facility. The hotel has been furnished to an exceptional standard throughout and offers a truly luxurious experience, boasting a unique but sophisticated Art Deco interior.

“No.16 was sympathetically refurbished to offer 14 exquisite en-suite bedrooms. Each room has been individually designed whilst retaining the Art Deco theme and period features, such as the high vaulted ceilings and sash windows.

“They include the same modern furnishings and amenities as the rooms present in the main building.

“No. 17 presents an opportunity to provide a larger food and beverage offering.”
