Immigration raid arrests at building firm
AN immigration raid on a builders merchant in Small Heath saw nine people arrested for working illegally.
An intelligence-led enforcement visit was carried out at Cambabest Builders Merchant in Venetia Road on Wednesday.
Immigration enforcement officers gained entry through a warrant after understanding there were individuals without the right to be in the UK.
Officers discovered eight
Indian nationals and one Romanian who were found working at the site.
One Indian national and the one Romanian national were detained and dealt with according to immigration rules.
The rest were granted immigration bail waiting for a resolution of their individual immigration cases.
The owner of the builders merchant was served with a referral notice for a maximum potential fine of £180,000.
