‘Raging Bull’ set for new home as maker restores it

-

BIRMINGHAM’S Commonwealth Games Raging Bull is to be repaired and found a new home in the city, according the company which built him.

Artem said it would start restoration work next week before it was put on display again in the city.

In a poem uploaded to social media, the special effects company said it would ‘mend, trim, paint and tweak’ the 30ft bull to restore it to its former glory.

The star of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony had to be moved from the city centre to make space for Birmingham Pride and the Conservative Party Conference, the firm said.

The poem said: “We’ve covered you while you’re still outside to protect your lovely face.

“We had to move you because Pride and Tories needed space.

“We’re coming back for you next week to spend time with our techs,

“We’ll mend and trim and paint and tweak (that’s what happens next).

“And after Artem’s worked on you to make you strong and pretty,

“You’re back to Brum as good as new to your new home city.”

The mechanical bull became an overnight sensation following his appearance at the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. For eight weeks, crowds flocked to Centenary Square to admire him.

Confirmation that the Raging Bull is to be found a new home will come as relief to the many Brummies who were saddened to see the bull tucked away in a hidden corner of a Ladywood car park.

This week the bull was moved but the location of its new home still remains a mystery – with Artem saying it had signed a non-disclosure agreement to not disclose the Bull’s new stomping ground.
