Richardson lifts lid on tycoon link
US property tycoon Michael Fuchs has emerged as a potential new backer for Blues’ prospective owners, Paul Richardson and Maxi Lopez.
The development came following a report identifying cryptocurrency tycoon Haydn Snape as someone who could come in and possibly be part of the deal as Richardson and Lopez try to take over at St Andrew’s.
Shortly after that emerged, however, Richardson suggested Snape’s involvement could be as a shirt sponsor and as a conduit to Fuchs, who is the famed owner of the Chrysler Building in New York City.
Ex-Gymshark chairman Richardson said: “Birmingham’s shirt sponsorship finishes at the end of the season and

“He knows Michael Fuchs, who has a company called RFR Holdings, and has agreed to introduce us. We get approached on a regular basis because Birmingham City has potential to be a very big club.”
The Birmingham Post understands talks have not yet taken place and things are at a very early stage with no commitment on either side.
The news comes as Richardson and Lopez continue their bid to complete the first of their two-part purchase of Blues, with the pair hopeful of buying the 21.64% holding of Vong Pech.
Richardson confirmed last week he is providing funding for the running costs at Blues even though the deal is yet to complete. The Post has been told the consortium is awaiting a conclusion to the EFL’s enquiries into the takeover.
Richardson and Lopez emerged as a contender to buy the club six months ago but had to wait on the sidelines as Laurence Bassini tried to force through a deal. However, they went public in July, since when they have been in pole position.
