Go vegan and help save the climate

- Sue Nicholson, By email

DEAR Editor, The 27th UN Climate Conference (COP 27) is currently under way in Egypt. International negotiations are fraught with difficulties and it is all too easy for individuals to feel powerless in the face of the climate emergency.

However, there is something we can all do to reduce our impact on the climate – move to a plant-based diet.

Avoiding meat and dairy is the single biggest way to reduce one’s personal impact on the climate. Research by Oxford University has concluded that if everybody followed such a diet, food-related climate emissions would fall by 70%.

A study by the Vegan Society found that one in four non-vegan participants would be open to trying a plant-based diet but did not know ‘where to start’. In response to this need, the Society has produced a free downloadable eBook with simple recipes and tips for sustainable plant-based eating.

The eBook can be downloaded from www.plateupfortheplanet.org/one-littleswitch and more information is available on #OneLittleSwitch
