City nursery bought by major player

-

A CHILDREN’S nursery in Birmingham has been bought out by a North West group.

Edgbaston Kindergarten, in Gillott Road, has been acquired in an undisclosed deal by Lymmbased Kids Planet, expanding its existing presence in the city where it already operates five nurseries and taking its total UK portfolio up to 138.

Edgbaston Kindergarten’s previous owner Anna Jacobs has exited the business as part of the buyout and now plans to retire and spend time with her family and grandchild.

She said: “Passing the responsibility of running my beloved nursery onto new owners was something that had caused me concern but Kids Planet share an ethos and a passion for quality childcare.

“They are a great home for the children and they offer excellent opportunities for the team.

“I can sleep easily knowing the nursery is in good hands.”

Kids Planet’s chief executive Clare Roberts added: “I am delighted to welcome the Edgbaston Kindergarten team into the Kids Planet family, developing an even stronger support network within Birmingham alongside our leading nurseries in that area.”
