Empty words as we enter recession

-

DEAR Editor, I have read how senior Conservatives seem to have given up the fight pre-general election, and just before the two by-elections this week. They were quoted as saying that the party is in the throes of a “death spiral”.

Will they please just call a general election for May 2 and get this over with. The longer they are in power with their petty in-fighting and endless squabbling the less the country is being governed with any competence whatsoever. The UK itself is in danger of entering its own death spiral as conditions worsen daily and new evidence of this government’s pathetic mismanagement comes to light.

How on earth can the PM claim his plans for the economy are working and “pointing in the right direction” when a recession has just been announced? His plans for tax cuts as a signal that the “future is going to be better” have been rubbished by the IMF as “unrealistic”, despite reality defying headlines in the Daily Express. It’s the same old con trick Conservatives always play at elections. They tell us how things are going to get better now we have turned a corner. They ask for our vote saying that Labour will cause chaos, when the Conservative track record of chaos is in plain sight.

They criticise Labour’s £28 billion investment plan when their own is in tatters and the country’s infrastructure is falling apart.

I, like most people, am struggling. It’s all getting worse, not better. The PM’s words are empty. Give us a general election on May 2 and let the people decide who they trust to get us out of this Conservative-created horror show!
