Carlos looks forward to a bright future

-

CARLOS Corberan has revealed his excitement at the club’s impending takeover as it reaches the “last step”.

Shilen Patel has agreed to buy the controlling stake of Guochuan Lai.

And providing an update, Corberan (pictured) said: “We are still in the same part of the process. Everything is waiting to be completed. We understand the excitement. It is normal.

“Every part of the West Bromwich Albion family is looking forward to this new period because it was something necessary for the club and now it is in the last step to make it happen so that is good for West Brom.

“I am always going to be pleased that it happens. This is our club and we want to make it grow and with this we understand it is going to happen.’’

Corberan first spoke to Patel after the Southampton defeat.

He revealed: “Unfortunately it was a difficult day for me because I was sent off!

“He was there and we had a possibility to start our conversation and have some words. It was just simple conversation, the first time I met him, so it was just, like you say, a first impression. He is someone that is going to bring a lot of resources to the club and a lot of energy.”

Asked how it would affect contract talks and targets, he admitted: “Of course everything changes. Depending on possibilities you can approach the market in one way or another way.

“Let’s see our possibilities; you need to adapt to what you have.”

And on how it will affect fans and players, he said: “If the fans keep being in the same level they are giving to us then I am more than pleased.

“I cannot demand more. We would like that they keep giving the same because the same is a lot.

“The mentality of the players this year has been the right one.

“We are focused on the things that we can control. I hope the players keep giving the same.

“I know the squad is fully committed to the club and want to compete and give their best. When we don’t achieve results it is not for things out of our control.”
