Consultancy returns to city with launch of office

-

AN ENGINEERING and environmental consultancy has returned to Birmingham.

MEC Consulting Group, which has bases in Leicester and Brighton, has taken space in Northspring at 31 Temple Street.

MEC Consulting was founded in 2009 and works with housebuilders, developers, landowners and architects, offering services such as civil engineering, transport, flood risk and utilities.

The agency previously had a presence in the city centre for five years but its most recent base in Cherry Street closed down when the Covid restrictions started in March 2020 and never reopened.

The new Birmingham office will be led by director Rob MacDonald, who is also looking to recruit specialist engineers over the coming months.

The firm’s current projects include a new apartment scheme at 100 Broad Street in Birmingham.

Mr MacDonald said: “MEC has always had a strong client base in and around Birmingham, which has continued to grow significantly in recent years.

“With over 100 active projects across the Midlands region and a similar volume in the pipeline, we knew the timing was right to relaunch our Birmingham office and establish a permanent presence in the city.

“We are confident we will be able to better serve existing clients as well as increase our profile to attract new business and talented professionals.

“We are actively recruiting and hope to have additional team members

in place by the end of the year.” Group managing director Alex Bennett added: “We are proud to count many of the region’s best-known housebuilders, land promoters and developers as clients and look forward to establishing new connections now our Birmingham base is

up and running. Birmingham has a buoyant property sector and enjoys a strong reputation as the UK’s second city.

“With the housing market now showing signs of an upturn as well as the forthcoming HS2, investment in the region will be significant.

“We therefore felt it was a sound decision to pursue this expansion of our business to ensure long-term success.

“We are excited to be part of the many project teams making positive contributions to the changing cityscape and neighbourhoods.”
