Aynuk, Ayli and another

Black Country Bugle - - NEWS - By DAN SHAW

THIS week’s front page picture was taken in Stourbridge in 1958 and shows three old pals enjoying a chin-wag and a smoke together.

They are stood in what was Clock Gardens, at the junction of the High Street, Coventry Street, Market Street and Crown Lane, and behind them you can see the Old Bank, now a pub, and what was the Board Vaults pub, now occupied by wine merchants Nickolls and Perks. To the right is the Market Hall, with the famous 1857 town clock just visible.

Does anyone recognise these old timers? In their flat caps and mufflers there are the archetypal Black Country blokes.
