Ex-school dinner lady Betty’s 90th birthday

Black Country Bugle - - YOUR LETTERS - Shaun O’reilly oshauny48reilly@yahoo.com

MY mother-in-law, Mrs Betty Welch, who lives in Pensnett, was 90 years old on Sunday, November 4.

Her husband, deceased now, was Frank Welch, who was goalie for Marsh and Baxters butchery firm, where they both worked many moons ago.

Betty was born in 1928 in Lye, then moved to Brierley hill with her husband Frank. She worked as a school dinner lady at both Bent Street School, and John Street School, in Brierley Hill, and also for many years on the railway at Brockmoor Station.

Her family, daughter Gillian, grandsons Nathan and Nicholas, their partners Lucy and Laura, and great grandchildren Oliver and Esme, plus all her friends and neighbours would like to wish her a very happy birthday. I’d also add a big thank you to Ben Pierce and Helen Nichols from the Morrissons store at Kingswinford for presenting a lovely birthday hamper to Betty, also Wayne her hairdresser at Brierley Hill for a lovely bouquet.

Betty Welch celebrated her 90th birthday on November 4
